Because real chicks hike and hiking is for REAL chicks.
Monthly hikes to encourage women to enjoy outdoor opportunities in their area.
Hikes will be easy to moderate and ANY woman with a water bottle and appropriate
shoes is invited to participate. Only fees involved are park and vehicle permits.
Rain or shine, please be prepared and bring plenty of water!

24 Hours of Horseshoe Hell: Climbing Competition
September 26 – 28, 2008
Horseshoe Canyon Ranch
Backwoods is a major sponsor for the 3rd annual 24 Hours of Horseshoe Hell on September 26-28th, 2008. 24HHH is an endurance style climbing comp at the widely known Horseshoe Canyon Ranch near Jasper, Arkansas. Teams of two will descend upon the Ranch to endure severe fatigue, dehydration, bloody fingertips and an unforgettable climbing experience. These teams will have 24 continuous hours to put in as many clean climbs as humanly possible on the hundreds of sport and trad routes on the Ranch. There is a point system for the various grades and all climbs must be put up on lead in clean style. Night climbing is key, and will be allowed/encouraged. FREE Fly Tying Class

Instructor: Stephen Woodcock, Fly Fishing Manager
A casual affair starting with news updates and recent
fishing tales. Plus, each class will have a new tying
demonstration so everyone will learn how to tie. Featuring
coldwater, warm water and saltwater patterns flies.
Please bring your own equipment and thread, we will
supply the materials.
No fee and no registration needed.
Periodically, we may have to cancel a class due to
inclement weather, sickness and holidays. To find

Our comprehensive Saturday morning four hour school
will cover all the basics, including equipment needed,
reading the water, casting clinic, tying your first
fly, basic knots and tips and tricks on catching fish.
Everything is provided, just bring a hat, a rain jacket
(if necessary), a pair of sunglasses and a willingness
to learn.
Normally, there are two classes each month.
